MASTER KEY PLANNING & SERVICE
Start with the doors and the access each person needs.
A master key can operate designated locks that also have their own individual keys. The arrangement needs a defined access plan and compatible hardware. We review the property's existing locks, desired access levels, and authorization before recommending a new system or changes to an existing one.
-01
Access hierarchy planning
Define which doors individual users, managers, and authorized maintenance contacts should be able to operate.
-02
Door and cylinder assessment
Identify the fitted cylinders and keyways before deciding whether they can support the proposed keying arrangement.
-03
New master key arrangements
Discuss a mechanical system for the agreed doors and access levels, subject to the identified hardware and design requirements.
-04
Existing system review
Review available system information, authorized key access, and installed hardware before planning changes to an established arrangement.
-05
Compatible cylinder rekeying
Assess whether suitable existing cylinders can be rekeyed to the approved plan or whether replacement is needed.
-06
Tenant and staff changes
Review affected access when staff leave, tenants change, or working keys are missing or unaccounted for.
-07
Keyed-alike alternatives
Compare a shared-key arrangement when all approved users need the same access and a hierarchy is unnecessary.
-08
Key issuance procedures
Discuss who may request keys, who authorizes changes, and how issued keys will be recorded and recovered.
-09
Future door additions
Consider planned changes before extending a system, with capacity and component compatibility checked for the existing arrangement.

MASTER KEY OR KEYED ALIKE
Decide whether you need different levels of access.
Keyed-alike locks use the same key for the agreed doors. A master key system adds a hierarchy, allowing designated management access alongside individual keys for specific locks. Tell us whether users need identical access or separate areas so the keying plan reflects the property rather than adding unnecessary complexity.

01
Managers need access across designated areas
02
Staff need access only to assigned doors
03
Tenants require separate individual keys
04
Maintenance access must follow an agreed plan
05
A single shared key may suit a simpler layout
If you only need to change working keys without a hierarchy, see commercial rekeying. A master key plan should identify actual access levels, not simply put every business lock on the same key.
EXISTING LOCKS & SYSTEM INFORMATION
Check compatibility before committing to a keying plan.
Existing cylinders may differ in keyway, construction, or system ownership. We identify the relevant hardware and review available records before proposing changes. A lock that is worn or damaged also needs assessment; a new keying arrangement does not by itself repair a mechanical fault.

PROPERTY & USER REQUIREMENTS
Build the plan around the way the property is managed.

01
A list of the doors included in the work
02
The access assigned to each user group
03
The people authorized to approve key changes
04
Existing system records where available
05
Expected tenant, staff, or layout changes
Property managers can coordinate requests through a designated contact. Our property management locksmith services support turnover and recurring lock needs. Commercial account invoicing is available for approved accounts, with arrangements agreed in advance.
KEY CONTROL AFTER INSTALLATION
Support the hardware plan with clear key procedures.

01
Record issued keys and their authorized holders
02
Decide who may request additional keys
03
Recover keys when a user’s access ends
04
Report missing individual or master keys
05
Review access before changing or adding doors
A lost master key may affect more doors than a lost individual key, so report the loss and review the agreed access scope. Master keying alone does not restrict duplication. Ask about suitable high-security and restricted-key options when controlled key issuance is also a requirement.
